Ingredients

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef, Italian sausage, garlic, and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, and seasonings. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  5. Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, and meat sauce. Repeat layers.
  6. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
